Fear & Loathing

I’m angry. I’m angry that I’m angry. I loathe the fact that I am angry about being angry. It’s my right to be angry, however, so I vow not to loathe my anger.

I am fearful. I am fearful about my fear. It grows daily with each new news report about how I should be afraid of losing my job, losing my house, starving to death, losing my ability to care for my animals, getting older and not having health insurance. I am fearful about our environment and the loss of many species with the latest threat to the polar bears. I loathe the fact that I am so fearful about things that are beyond my control.

I wish I could be more Zen-like. Accept that which I cannot change. However, if I just accept things, even though I cannot change these things, don’t I just become complicit in the whole horrible process? That’s how I used to think many years ago which brought me nothing but ill health due to excessive stress. I worried about everything.

Now I just stress about almost everything then do mental exercises to alleviate my stress until the next stressful thing arrives. When the mental exercises don’t help, I pound my head against the wall to knock myself into unconsciousness. That helps until I wake up and remember what caused the stress that motivated me to knock myself unconscious.

I’ve tried seeing a psychiatrist until I realized that those people are as screwed up as everyone else and don’t know how to fix anything. They do know how to write out a prescription for anti-depressants, though. I won’t take them. You shouldn’t take them either. They don’t make the problems go away. Of course if you don’t have health insurance you can’t afford to buy them anyway. And, you’ll still lose your house or job or starve to death. Doesn’t that make you angry?

You know what helps? Spitting. If you get angry enough you should just spit. You can hear it and you can see it which means you can truly appreciate the awesome value of it. Spit at the wall; spit at the floor; spit at your local politician. It beats throwing expensive shoes. And when the spit dries on your wall or floor, feel free to color it with crayons to brighten up your world.

If the spit dries on your local politician, revel in the fact that he/she will now have to take their garment to the dry cleaners or else worry about whether or not they contracted some horrible disease from your ugly spit. They will become fearful and they will loathe you for your disgusting habit. What they sow, so shall they reap. That should make you happy.

24: Another TV Show Falls By the Wayside

Jack Bauer may continue to save the world (as we know it) but I won’t be watching anymore. I used to love the show and reveled in how super agent Jack eliminated our enemies one by one (while injuring a few friends in the process). But this season, I just couldn’t stand it anymore. It’s not that the president is a lady this time around, it’s all the baggage she brought with her: a belief that tens of thousands (or more) of American lives can be forfeited to help a few thousand in Africa, a liability of a husband (who probably turns out to be the great savior), the vast number of American traitors in our government (par for the course in any season of 24) who murder and maim at the drop of a hat. Her course of action alone should have gotten her executed for treason. And that soppy face of hers, spouting disbelief that some bad guy would actually “push the button”, “pull the trigger” or whatever after he said “do this or else”… well that was just too much.

And then there’s the character of Jack himself, played by Kiefer Sutherland, his nonstop whispering urgency as he delivers his lines. Even when he shouts, it’s as if he’s still whispering (loudly … yes, I know, there’s a bit of a contradiction there).

Some shows just cross the line.. The term is “jumping the shark” named after an incident in the old TV show “Happy Days” when the character Fonzie, literally jumped a shark while water skiing. For me, 24 has indeed jumped the shark this season. It is no longer fun to watch.

If I were the producers of 24, I would send Jack Bauer on a mission to eliminate all the people who destroyed the U.S. economy in the last number of years. I know it would take him a long time to get them all. But that would ensure that the show would remain on the air for many years to come and just think of how much fun it would be to watch all the creeps get their due at the hands of the ever resourceful Jack: beheadings, shootings, torture! Now that’s a show.

U.S. Banking: Time to Send a Message

The big banks have gotten a super big bailout from the U.S. government. This comes after they screwed over the public royally by doubling and even tripling credit card interest rates and ridiculous fees, decreasing or eliminating credit. After you sign on to their original terms, they arbitrarily change them and the bank you began with is no longer the bank holding your card. Does any of this seem fair? Does anyone have oversight over these practices? The government does have something called the Fair Credit Reporting Act but let’s face it – the government is in control of absolutely nothing when it comes to the banking industry.

Time to send a message. Since the public is funding these businesses through the big bailout, I think it should now be US calling the shots. A lot of people are having financial problems and many will default on their credit card payments. It’s going to show up on your credit report no matter how much you try to reason with the banks. I would suggest that people stop paying off their debts and when the debt collectors start calling you tell them to take out your payments from the bailout money they received from YOUR tax dollars — remember, the money you paid when you actually had a job. Then, you can tell them that if they still need more money, they should get it back from the overpaid CFO/CEO fuckers who created this mess in the first place.

I’ve been seeing those Walmart commercials about buying a prepaid Visa card. It seems a good way to go as a backup to carrying cash. Obviously once you tell the banking industry to go fuck themselves you’ll never get credit again, at least not for about 7-10 years, but the way things are going in general, you wouldn’t get it anyway. Are there going to be any jobs left in the United States? The word “depression” is now on everyone’s lips. Scary stuff, indeed.

U.S Healthcare, Wellness, Individual Freedoms

If you were to read the March 2009 issue of Life Extension Magazine, published by Life Extension Foundation (lef.org), you would find a fascinating editorial that will knock your socks off when it comes to the inefficiency/ineffectiveness of the FDA and downright corruption perpetrated by the pharmaceutical companies against everyone. What I find astounding and particularly galling is how the U.S. government has been complicit in it all. Greed and ignorance is how Congress operates, it would seem, otherwise how else would you explain Congress actually allowing the pharmaceutical industry to write policy (such as dictating the exorbitant cost of prescription drug purchases that the government’s Medicare program must pay)?

To fix our healthcare system:
1. Get rid of the FDA as it exists today – put alternative medicine specialists in charge and under no circumstances allow the usual special interests groups (pharmaceutical industry lobbyists) anywhere near it.

2. No direct to consumer advertising by pharmaceutical companies. No pharmaceutical company monopolies.

3. No government censorship when it comes to alternative medicine approaches. No jailing people to stop the flow of valuable information. I strongly recommend you view the information at Antiaging Systems and I hope that someone has not hacked that system to destroy the information available there.

4. Stop all attacks against the vitamin/supplement/alternative health industry and when research about a supplement is presented (like the recent Vitamin E scare) make sure it is done by reputable 3rd parties using the correct “natural” supplement that is supported by the vitamin/supplement industry and not some garbage synthetic at reduced dosage (which is precisely what occurred).

5. Revamp the American Medical Association and American Dental Association. They are both stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry.

6. Cancer research and therapies: The Germans have an effective alternative non-invasive therapy involving heating the body. Why don’t we? Why has virtually no one in the United States even heard of it, what about other effective therapies? Because the AMA won’t allow anything that doesn’t make them a ton of money through invasive, non-effective “treatment” protocols that give them and their doctors kickbacks from useless chemotherapy.

7. Health Insurance: Universal care for all legal U.S. citizens. Stop the unfair overpricing by the industry. Make sure wellness programs are covered and the use of vitamins/supplements. Get rid of gender inequality. Promote funding of family planning/birth control instead of Viagra.

8.  Read this fascinating article about Monsanto controlling our food supply and how the FDA and congress has let a giant corporation destroy your health along with farmers’ livelihoods.

Obama Address to Congress

In response to President Obama’s Address to Congress on February 24, 2009, I say this: This government will NEVER achieve its lofty goals unless it finally puts an end to unbridled illegal immigration (deport them already!) and controls legal immigration as well as controlling the overpopulation that is the cause of every single problem we face as a society.

Why not reward people for NOT having children by giving these individuals tax breaks? Our financial situation, environment, health care and education systems will all benefit immediately by this approach. — FEB. 25, 2009

A Planet of Retards

Our self-proclaimed claim to fame as the most intelligent species on the planet doesn’t hold an ounce of water. Almost every problem we face as a society can be traced to overpopulation yet it’s the one subject we refuse to address. Why? Oh my goodness, we might insult someone. My response? Too fucking bad. The truth is the truth and if you can’t handle it, go hide your head in the sand and wait till the nuke hits or the planet implodes.

In Los Angeles, all you have to do is take a look at any freeway and you’ll understand the concept of overpopulation. Or, you can look toward the hills, or at least what used to be hills, before developers bulldozed the trees and shrubs and turned our environment into the ugly boxes they call houses. Why? “People have to live somewhere”, the phrase goes. My response? Yeah, they can live in Mexico and other Latin American countries from which they came. Who says that the United States is obligated to support every other country’s population? Other nations should contend with their own people and if the people don’t like the government or situation they find themselves in, then they should work to better it where they are. And if they’re too stupid to figure it out, then that’s when the concept of “survival of the fittest” comes in to play.

Furthermore, why don’t the banks, corporations and developers develop those countries instead of overdeveloping and therefore overpopulating ours? And most important, if the Catholic Church is going to tell the people of all of these nations that it’s wrong to practice birth control then I think ALL of these people should be supported by the Catholic Church. They should all show up in Vatican City and load their babies onto the altar of God.

Africa has been a disaster since forever. The land can’t support the population. Have you ever seen a news story out of there that didn’t include famine, starvation, disease, genocide and women with 5-10 children? Birth control? God forbid; that would be too logical.

Man tries to control every other species on the planet but won’t control his own mess. Climate Change — some assholes in government and the scientific and corporate communities say climate change is not a problem. Their phrase goes like this: “the planet has healed itself in the past and there have always been climate changes going on.” My response? When in the history of the planet have we ever had such a massive number of people and such a massive number of businesses all doing things to adversely affect the environment?

Some people just won’t accept the truth because they don’t have to. These are greedy individuals who make money from everyone else’s misery or who get to remain in control at the top of the ladder – the rich sons of bitches who saunter through life while others mire in the muck. Corporate executives, rich government officials, you know them; you see them on the news everyday. They literally get away with murder – they allow our environment to be destroyed; they make excuses not to address important social issues because they’re afraid they won’t get re-elected. They do absolutely nothing but feed themselves. How did the world get so topsy-turvy?

If we as humans exercised social responsibility in any meaningful manner, we would have controlled our population many years ago and not run rampant across the planet killing or pushing out of existence every other species. Self-control is the one thing the human being cannot and will not learn. Shame!

Think before you act. You want to have a child? My first response is why? I have a really hard time buying into the concept that every married couple needs to have children in order to feel complete. In this overpopulated environment I think that is remarkably selfish. Then I might say “Adopt one”. You want to have a child? My next response might be “NO”; you’re too stupid to bring up a child. You want to have a child? Do you have the funds to support this child 100%? That means food, clothing, education, medicine? What about the people on welfare or teen parents or people who have a bunch of children already and cannot afford to rear them? What the hell gives them the right to dump their kids on the rest of us and force us to support them? Nothing.

Social responsibility – try exercising that right. — Filed Jan.11, 2009

Auto Maker Bailout

Here they come with outstretched hands once again. The big three American automakers, General Motors, Ford Motors and Chrysler have no shame. They got a a ton of money a few weeks ago in a government sponsored bailout and now they want more. There’s no disputing that these companies employ a few million workers and that they would be the ones who suffer from the companies’ decline, but here’s the problem with the bailout.

Let’s go way back, for a moment, to the 1970s when America experienced the horror of the Middle East oil embargo. The ones who fared the best back then were owners of small cars. Neither the oil companies nor the automakers responded in any relevant way, not even when people traded in their gas guzzlers for the much smaller and fuel efficient cars manufactured by foreign companies. American automakers stood firm in their stupid decision to make big, big crappy cars and gas guzzling trucks. Then they complained that their sales were down.

We saw Toyota, a Japanese company, become the biggest seller in the United States. Shame on American car makers, shame. They started the industry and then they ran it right into the ground. They are incompetent.

It doesn’t matter how much money is given to them by the government, they’ll waste it through bad decision making. Starting in the 1970s is when these companies should have retooled their plants to create cars that were highly efficient and offered exceptional safety. Ford Motors is the company that manufacturers perhaps the world’s most unsafe car. Give them more money, why?

The other problem with a government bailout is that our government itself is incompetent. Even the first money they gave them did not have any strings attached. There is no accountability. Just like the giant insurance company AIG which got a government bailout and then obscenely spent the money on entertainment for its officers and exorbitant corporate pay, what’s to prevent the automakers from abusing the money the same way? And if the people in charge have screwed up so royally before, why would the government think that they will now make good decisions and be able to implement them.

I have no confidence in these companies’ abilities to do anything right. The sad thing is, as always, it’s the average citizen who will pay for corporate and government mistakes. — filed 11/13/08

A Black President?

Congratulations, Barack Obama. Congratulations, America. Now comes the hard part – governing on those lofty promises – which is something anyone would have to do, republican or democrat.

But let’s get something straight first. Obama is not black. Obama is of mixed race. And he’s not African-American. He’s American. As someone of mixed race, he truly can identify with both sensibilities. As someone who came from lesser means, he can understand the problems that the majority of Americans must face everyday. I cannot think of a better representative to bind the people of this country together.

Obama is intelligent, thoughtful and articulate. Obama is willing to engage in diplomacy. Obama’s message has been ‘hope for the future’ and ‘change for the better’. And even though Obama is younger than his Republican opponent, he proved to be the more mature one.

George Bush was a stupid warmonger who was arrogant about his stupidity. And McCain was happy to blindly follow Bush’s lead. Obama was lucky enough to have raised the most money ever in a Presidential campaign, but Bush comes from oil wealth and McCain lives comfortably in 11 homes and with 13 cars and has an heiress for a wife. Neither Republican falls into your “average American” category despite their clamor about pitching to their “base”. Their only base has been their “Joe the Plumber” and “Joe Six-Pack” mentality. Thankfully, America woke up and realized that that mentality is pathetic and ugly and not something that was going to move us away from our woes and into the splendid future.

The whole world has been watching and will continue to watch. It is now time for America to shine. We will only do that with honesty, tolerance, intelligence and fortitude. We must face our problems head on and fix them. We can no longer set them aside and say they’ll wait for another day. Our natural resources are limited; our economy and our environment are in shambles. We must make every representative accountable.

I have hope for the first time in many years. Obama knows what needs to be done. Now if only we can make it happen!  – filed 11/5/08

Gay Marriage

Voters in at least three states were faced with propositions related to Gay marriage. In California, it was Proposition 8, put on the ballot and funded by Mormons that stated that marriage should only be considered valid between a man and a woman. It passed. And in so doing, it took away the rights and validity of Gay marriage granted by California statutes.

The people being blamed are Blacks who voted overwhelmingly for it. Apparently Blacks thought that civil rights should only apply to them. Everyone else who voted for it apparently has never heard of the concepts of separation of church and state or that all are created equal.

Everyone jumped on the religious bandwagon, believing every outrageous thing said by a bunch of religious zealots. Whatever happened to love thy neighbor; treat everyone as you would have them treat you? It’s 100% religious bigotry and it’s obscene.

And what’s all this defense of heterosexual marriage about anyway? Fifty percent (or is it more by now) heterosexual marriages end in divorce. The kids are no better off bouncing between one parent or the other, assuming that both parents are even still around. What about the trauma to them of being stuck in the middle of a vicious divorce battle? It happens all the time. And what kind of trauma do they suffer when one or the other heterosexual parent engages in adultery and the rest of the family finds out about it?

Gays are bad people and therefore bad influences simply because they’re gay? Whether gay or straight, good people, are good influences. Sexuality has nothing to do with it. And straight kids aren’t going to magically turn gay just because they have gay parents. Their sexual orientation is pretty much set at birth and studies show this to be true.

If there’s any sanctity left to marriage, it is not in its institution, it’s in the people who elect to be married – people who both love and respect each other and if they choose to have a children – it’s in the love and respect shown to them. — filed 11/10/08

Sarah Palin & Her Clothes

Sarah Palin is upset that the news media is still hammering her about the $150,000 or more spent by her and her family on clothing during the Republican campaign. She says that there are more important things to discuss. Probably she’s referring to Barack Obama’s nonexistent Moslem religion or his nonexistent “paling around with terrorists”. Or maybe what she’s referring to is the crib she plans to buy for her teenage daughter’s illegitimate child.

This brain-dead twit still doesn’t get it. Her clothing expense is important because the Republican campaign used public funds just so she could go on a shopping spree. This is just a guess, mind you, but I’m thinking that there are a lot of “hockey moms” out there who might enjoy the opportunity to stock up on clothing from Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales – assuming that the majority of them had even heard of those top of the line stores.

At a time when those very same “hockey moms” are trying to figure a way to put food on the table so their little hockey pucks can eat, you have to wonder what went through the heads of Republican campaign managers and Palin herself when her clothes closet was being reassembled. I never understood how people in government can say they appeal to the average citizen when they flaunt their wealth at us. Joe the Plumber too should open his eyes to the hypocrisy of Republican ways. But then again they probably only bought him a new set of designer tee-shirts and perhaps a belt to hold up his droopy drawers.

Except for the clothing fiasco, I do wish the news media would finally forget about Palin now that she’s back up in Alaska holding fort with her convicted felon Senator Ted Stevens who, thankfully, just lost his bid for re-election. It’s the land of the dumb and dumber. I only feel sorry for the poor animals who are routinely slaughtered as a sign of bravado from the human “stupids”. — filed 11/12/08
