Republican Lies & Bad Government

John McCain is a repulsive liar and idiot; Sarah Palin is a dangerous imbecile. Together they comprise the team of Bozo and Barbie. May they rest in peace at the bottom of the heap come election day.

With the economy in the shitter, our environment in shambles, our energy policy as pathetic and nonsensical as our immigration policy, the American people should be up in arms over the bullshit being spewed by the Republicans.

We should demand change in the way our government functions. Election campaign reform is an essential as government reform in general. Out with the lobbyists and special interests that have controlled our government for so many years. Is everyone in government on the take?

Let’s get back to McCain and Palin for a moment. They represent “bad government” in its truest form. It’s one thing to campaign on differences of opinion but they seem only to know how to campaign on misrepresentations, taking things out of content, twisting concepts and flat out lies.

When NBC’s Brian Williams pointed out to the McCain team that Senator Joe Leibowitz (McCain’s Democratic supporter) made essentially the same comment that Sen. Joe Biden had made about a new president being tested by the international crisis, McCain and Palin both simply brushed aside the remark and continued to attack Obama and Biden.

Their nonstop attacks on Biden’s remarks are pathetic. They prove just how good the Republicans are at twisting things and diverting the voters’ attention from really important things like what the Republicans’ campaign is all about. If I were to say that the sun is shining and it’s a beautiful day, this less than dynamic duo would say I was out of touch with reality, that I can’t see the dire hell we are in financially and that because the person standing next to me at the bus stop when I made my comment is a man named Mohammed who 40 years ago had done something bad, I must therefore be a terrorist.

Sarah Palin can’t utter an independent thought. She has none. She’s a parrot. Every word out of her mouth has been written for her and it reiterates everything the McCain has already said. Of being a “maverick”, Palin has uttered: “We/he have the scars to prove it.” “John MCain has been tested, he has the scars to prove it.” McCain: ‘Well, I’ve been tested. I have the scars to prove it.’ Blah, blah, blah …. Take your scars and shove it.

Sarah Palin is stupid. She said she has foreign policy experience because of Alaska’s proximity to Russia. Even her fellow Alaskans were taken aback by the stupidity of her remark. When asked which newspapers she reads, she said she reads ‘all of them’, then said she was annoyed by the question. I remember people asking other candidates throughout the years the same question, including what books they’ve read recently – none of them were so highly offended as Palin.

The Repbulicans kept Palin away from public view and the press for many weeks after her selection as V.P. Why? So they could mold her into the parrot – which is precisely how she acted in her debate with Joe Biden. She had the audacity to stand up at a public debate which both parties had agreed to and said she was not going to answer the questions. Instead she used the debate as a platform to spew her memorizations of the Republican ticket and to attack Obama and Biden. Actually, I would have thought Palin would be happy as a Caribou in shit in debating Joe Biden; after all his name is Joe, and we know how much Palin is in love with her Joes: Joe Six-Pack and Joe-the Plumber.

Apparently, they also hid her away during that time so she and her equally stupid family could go on a shopping spree to spend $150,000 of Republican money on clothing.

Perhaps the most eggrecious of all Republican charges, though, is the one in which they call intelligent people who have been well educated and who are good speakers “elitists”. It’s bogus. I certainly would much rather have a smart well educated person being the leader of one of the most important countries in the world than having Joe Six-Pack running things.

Just remember, it’s was the Republican base who voted George Bush into office, not once, but twice – because they thought he was someone with whom they’d like to have BBQ and a beer.  – filed Oct. 25, 2008

Common Sense Anti-Terrorism

Now, I’m no anti-terrorism expert, but here’s a thought. Just a thought, mind you. How about instead of foiling the rights and conveniences of countless millions of people (travelers and otherwise), we target the kinds of people most associated with doing the evil deeds. I know some misguided individuals call this “profiling”, as if that is an illogical sin, but, seriously folks, can you imagine a serial killer leaving the site of his crime, spotted by dozens of people who described him as a white, twenty-year-old, tall, 500-pound dark haired man and then having the police do a manhunt for EVERYONE of every possible color, age, sex and ethnicity? It would be an obscene waste of time and money for absolutely EVERYONE, not just the police, not just the public, but of every kind of industry associated with servicing these imaginary targets.

The police, to my knowledge, don’t do that, so why the hell should our government engage in such stupidity? The answer has always been: they don’t want to offend anyone of a specific persuasion: Arabs and moslems. Oh really? I admit I was a little more than just offended on September 11, 2001 as were the majority of American citizens and others around the world. I’ve been more than just offended when trains in Spain were obliterated or when British “citizens” of Pakistani descent planned more bombings, or when countless other incidents around the world over the years resulted in the massacre of innocents, all perpetrated by extremist Moslems out to allegedly do Allah’s work.

Frankly, I’m tired of being so offended. I’m tired of watching millions of people turn into sheep as they are herded through airport terminals and told to dump their toiletries because some assholes in England were going to use “liquids” to set off explosives on planes. Liquids. What kinds of liquids? Gasoline, alcohol, butane, kerosene, propane? The kind that are already forbidden on flights?

What did these British assholes look like? The same as all the other extremist assholes who have done harm over the years.

So why should every man, woman and child be subjected to ridiculous restrictions? How dangerous really is my tube of lipstick (that’s not liquid and besides, wouldn’t it just melt if exposed to high heat?), my deodorant (I use a crystal stone that’s solid not liquid); how flammable is my herbal shampoo (I’d hate to think I could blow up in the shower); what about my toothpaste (I know fluoride can really do damage to the body, but can terrorists kill me with it too?); can my thyroid pills really be mistaken for cyanide (maybe by inexperienced, low paid, stupid airport security); and hair gel, how much alcohol is in those products – enough to blow up a plane? If so, the FDA should have taken them off the market long ago.

Homeland Security is determined not to offend people of the same persuasion as the extremists, just EVERYONE else. The organization is determined to make travel and vacationing a supremely joyless experience even more so than the crowded skies have over the years.

I want to be able to travel with the things I need to be well groomed and that includes nail clippers. I do not want to have to take off my shoes and walk around on bacteria, virus laden floors or have strangers probing my body.

I want COMMON SENSE back in the world.

I want people of the same persuasion as the terrorists to rise up against the asshole extremists instead of the governments and people trying to contain them. Common sense.

I want PROFILING. I want our security people to go after the TERRORISTS, not EVERYONE else. Common sense.

I want our good people to tell our government, “enough is enough, go after the terrorists and stop fucking with us.” Really, people, what’s it going to take for you all to wise up, when the government tells you to walk nude onto the planes?

I can truly understand why good Arabs and Moslems are angry at the idea of profiling. It is disdainful to a degree, but logically, it cannot be ignored. And as a group, it is as much their responsibility to thwart the threat. Their leaders hold the greatest responsibility to teach people, especially the youth, how to function in a multi-culture world and how to respect the rules, laws and customs of their adopted homelands, or stay in their own countries with the curtains drawn tight. Show a little common sense. The extremists are as much their enemy as they are ours. (original post approx 2001-2002)

$750 Billion Dollar Bailout

Dear Wall Street Greedy Pigs and Incompetent Bankers Everywhere: We, the Congress of the American people want you to have $750-billion dollars so that you can further abuse the people’s money; even throw it down the toilet; we don’t care. But we know you’ll just pocket the money as you always do.

We want all you greedy pig CEOs to pay yourselves tens of millions of dollars each and every year, not because you did a good job and actually deserve that money (hell, no one deserves that obscene amount of money, not even Hollywood mega-stars), but because you’re able to get away with it. You do, after all, run the show.

We know there is absolutely no oversight of those payouts and golden parachutes. We know that because we’re the ones who did away with any important regulations that might prevent it. We did that because we’re just as greedy as you and we want to thank you for all the special interest money you’ve thrown our way over the years. You’ve kept us in office so that we can make laws that screw over 99.9% of the population, so that we can pay ourselves lots of money and also get away with it, so that we can buy ourselves luxurious houses and never have to worry about losing our mortgages and because, well, we just like playing Gods.

Actually, we think you’re the ones really playing Gods; that would make us your minions. But, we’re rich minions, so that will do nicely. What are you doing for dinner tonight? Want to come over and plan another bailout? Oh, I forgot, we did that already: a couple of car companies, a wooden arrow company (what was that for again? We can’t remember; we just know it was something we had to do so the American people wouldn’t continue to suffer from financial ruin.)

Love is never having to say you’re sorry. We just love you guys. And we know you love us too. originally filed Oct. 23, 2008

Campaign Reform

It’s been roughly two and a half years of campaigning by hordes of candidates on both sides; we’re now down to two and, with one week before the election, some people are still undecided. What are they going to do on election day, play pin the tail on the chad?

There have been millions upon millions of dollars wasted on the campaign as candidates fell by the wayside and millions more spent by the two who survived. I can’t help but wonder what better use all that money could have gone to. Funding healthcare? Fixing up dilapidated roads and bridges? Cleaning up the classrooms and buying new books for students? Funding alternative energy?

Those are just a few of the many things that need fixing in this country. But, for some reason we would rather use all that money to have a bunch of candidates traipse around the country making promises they most likely cannot keep to people too stupid to realize it.

Do we really need to see a candidate in person in order to make a decision about voting for him or her? Do we need to watch as they bumble their way through small towns eating at diners and attending fairs? I think not.

I read news magazines and newspapers; I watched TV news reports and analysis; I’ve lived life and know what’s troubling our society and I’m able to make a decision. I’d like to think that the candidates too are pretty savvy about what people are thinking without all that hoofing around.

But maybe that’s just me.

I do think, however, that knowing about the astronomical amounts of money spent on this campaign, it’s time for campaign reform and I have a few ideas about that.

New Law: A campaign may only run for a total of six months prior to any election. Any candidate found campaigning in any form for longer than that shall be fined exorbitant amounts of money and prevented from running for election.

New Law: No campaign money may be sent to individual candidates, only to the political parties that they represent. No candidate will be allowed to know who the donators are; that way special interest pandering will be prevented. The political parties then dole out the money equally. That will make both the people planning to run for election and the political parties responsible for their money management.

New Law: Any candidate with a high net worth (to be determined) shall not be eligible to accept party money and he/she may never be allowed to spend more than the other candidates who do receive party money.

New Law: The television networks shall, as public service announcements, be forced to provide free and equal time (to be determined) to all candidates for their commercials.

New Law: There shall be ongoing broadcast debates with hard-hitting questions by moderators throughout the campaign and that’s how we will truly get to know the candidates.

There was an option for the candidates to pledge to use only a limited amount of public money but it was just that – optional – and the parameters weren’t well set. Obama opted out and ended up spending a fortune. In this case, good for him; I hope he wins. But for the future, I hope someone wises up to the patent unfairness of the system. What we’ve learned is that you have to be rich to play in the game and if you’re not personally wealthy you have to be able to connect on a grand scale with those who are. Why not level the playing field? Let brains, competence and good ideas win over financial brawn. In the 2008 Presidential election we are, in my opinion, lucky enough that the man who just might win, has shown that he has it all. originally filed Oct. 29, 2008

Monty Roberts Dupes News Media and Publishers

By JOHN DOLAN
Special to USA Views

Nov. 6, 1999
There’s a horse trainer named Monty Roberts who seemingly took the United States by storm a couple of years ago. He’s a best-selling author of his book “The Man Who Listens to Horses”, the tale of his tortured childhood, his prowess with horses, his recognition by the Queen of England. Great story telling.

After the book was published by Random House, it was everywhere and so was Monty Roberts, on television, on radio, crying his tales of childhood abuses at the hands of his father, giving fancy training demonstrations called “Join-Up” using the “language of Equus”, along with other long-known methods that only he, it seems, could promote in his uniquely charismatic manner. He became the latest cult figure to the masses of horse people around the world. His book is translated in a slew of languages and he still makes jaunts to the Queen’s hangout. Monty Roberts became in many people’s eyes the savior of all horses from various abuses and misguided training methods. He made it sound as if no other trainer on the face of the earth ever promoted good will and common sense to equines.

Then from the bowels of his past, came family members with their own tales of Monty’s childhood. These tales weren’t so dramatic: no abuse at the hands of his father, no complicity by a lax mother, no great film career or friendship with James Dean. Little by little they whittled down Monty’s great manhood to a series of lies, deceits and abuses, not to him, but by him.

But where was the news media? Why didn’t Random House or another large entity publish “Horse Whispers & Lies”, the book that counters Monty Roberts’ own? Where were the television cameras, the top reporters from NBC’s “Dateline”? Where was the Los Angeles Times? Only “Horse & Rider” magazine and TIME had the gumption to publish an article unfavorable to him – although it must be said that TIME’s article was a mere shadow of revelations to come. Why was no one interviewing the scores of people who spoke against Monty Roberts?

Monty Roberts’ public relations person did an amazingly good job getting him to be seen and heard around the world. The truth, however, had no public relations person, so the media just ignored the controversy that’s been brewing for well over a year. The media has ignored the three major lawsuits surrounding Monty Roberts. And, since one of the lawsuits against him has been settled out of court, and another on its way to the same conclusion, it only ensures that the public will never know the extent of the evidence against him. One other lawsuit that this author knows of remains outstanding until March of next year. I will not place any bets on the winner but will only say that Monty Roberts is rich and the plaintiffs are poor. Who do you think has more funds to hire top notch, albeit sleazy lawyers who will do everything in their power to protect Monty Roberts’ bad name?

Where are the news honchos protecting the public’s right to know? They’re still kneeling at the altar of the man who only thinks he listens to horses.  For more literary scams about author fraud visit AllForums.com

Campaigning Financing Bill Busted

The reason that we have three branches of government is to ensure balance of power. But it doesn’t always work. Like when the senate kills campaign finance reform … again. Why would someone who benefits from keeping things the way they are want to change things for the worse? They wouldn’t! And that’s why the senate will never pass a law to reform campaign financing that allows them to raise large sums from special interest groups and go on their merry way.

Let’s face it. It’s a huge conflict of interest for them. And if it’s a conflict of interest, then someone else needs to be making the decision. It reminds me how we give congress the right to raise it’s own pay. I should be so lucky!

Meanwhile, we get people like the President sitting around disparaging the Senate for doing what no one expects it to do in the first place: “It leaves unchecked the influence of moneyed special interests”, Clinton said. And he should know, he’s been as much the recipient of money from special interests as anyone else. “The people of this country want reform and the Senate cannot stand in their way forever”, he went on to say. Oh yeah? Just watch them.

Was anyone really surprised by the vote? After all, campaign financing reform has been an issue since 1987. This year, Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) bragged: “There is no momentum whatsoever for this kind of measure” as he noted that more senators voted this year to kill the reform than in nineteen previous votes in the past 12 years. Hooray for the Senate!

Here’s what I would do to stop all this nonsense. Immediately ban fundraising completely. No candidate shall be allowed to roam the country, shaking hands, kissing babies, telling lies and making false promises. Force the television and radio networks to provide free air time for all viable candidates. All candidates shall be given equal time in the form of informative commercials. All candidates must participate in regularly scheduled single-issue debates that are then carried simultaneously on all networks which would force the citizenry to listen up. Newspapers must then publish the text of the debates in their entirety for those who missed the televised version.

We will never again have to watch a candidate wearing a stupid hat or munching an oversized hot dog. We will never again have to listen to a candidate tell funny stories to a bunch of hicks in some God-forsaken township in the middle of bloody nowhere or watch a candidate campaign in front of five year-olds at a daycare center.

If he/she is going to impress us, let it be with the truth and with common sense and with issues and laws that really matter. (original post Oct. 24, 1999)

Test Ban Treaty & Arms Sales

The United States Senate refused to ratify the nuclear test ban treaty, an initiative to limit the spread of nuclear weapons worldwide. Senator Joseph Biden (Dem – Delaware) called the vote “disastrous” noting that it would be difficult for the U.S. to negotiate other arms control treaties; “This is about ending the regime of arms control.”

It seems if the United States is really serious about ending arms proliferation, then maybe it ought to stop selling and trading arms to the tune of $10.78 billion per year.

There’s an air of supreme hypocrisy hovering over Washington D.C. – as if that were something unusual. Why did a joint House-Senate conference committee just last week, maneuver to reopen arms sales to India and Pakistan, two very dangerous nations that conducted nuclear tests last year then nearly fought a war over Kashmir this year?

The United States is the largest supplier of arms. If you added up the totals of all the other nations supplying weapons around the world, that figure still wouldn’t readh the $53.9 billion that the U.S. sold from 1994 through 1998.

How on earth does the U.S. reconcile arms control with massive ongoing arms sales? Chalmers Johnson of the Japan Policy Research Institute said the “system amounts to military socialism…Many of these arms sales are designed to keep people employed. We’re not a force for spreading peace around the world today, we’re a force for spreading arms.”

The Clinton administration now wants to sell arms to Latin America. the excuse? The region is now made up of mucho democratic governments, so it’s safer. We sell huge amounts of arms to Saudi Arabia. The excuse? This undemocratic nation survives in the unstable dangerous atmosphere of the Middle East.

What’s it all mean? We sell arms to anyone and everyone at any time we deem financially desirable. The buck does not stop here! (original post Oct.15, 1999)

World Population: 6 Billion

This past summer, the world’s population reached a staggering 6 billion, a figure projected by the U.S. Census Bureau. What’s even scarier than that is the fact that the world’s population has doubled in less than 40 years.

Even though there has been a gradual slowing of the overall rate, the world’s population is still increasing by about 78 million people each year. Whatever happened to zero population growth?

Amy Coen of Population Action International puts things in perspective: “It took all of human history for the world’s population to reach 1 billion in 1804 but little more than 150 years to reach 3 billion in 1960. Now, not quite 40 years later, we are twice that number. Every 20 minutes the world adds another 3,500 human lives but loses one or more entire species of animal or plant life, at least 27,000 species per year.” And the group’s latest projections say the population could double again by the year 2050.

The United States is the third most populous nation after China and India, even though 71-percent of its women use some form of family planning. And it still has the highest fertility rate among industrialized nations. The United States is expected to double its 270 million people in the next 60 years according to Peter Kostmayer of Zero Population Growth. The United States is also the “melting pot” for every other ethnic group on the face of the earth that supports huge families.

The biggest problems are in poor countries where it is expected that 95-percent of future population will occur. These are the same countries that already can’t provide proper housing, education, medical facilities, food and water sources. And about 1 billion teenagers are just now entering their reproductive years – considered a major reason for the continued population growth.

Other scary projections: by 2025, one billion people will be over age 60, although few efforts are being made to care for them medically or socially.

Some thoughts and questions: We don’t need anymore people on earth; there are way too many now. In fact, there were way too many back in 1960. Does the human animal have the right to obliterate every other species to make more room for his own? Should poor nations that have already proved incapable of supporting their massive populations continue to be subsidized by other nations so that the poor nations can continue their rampant procreation? Should nations whose religion or tradition calls for large families be tolerated by the rest of humanity? Should teenagers be allowed to procreate? How do you stop people who care nothing about the environment from procreating? Should we just procreate until every last resource on the face of the planet is used up and then worry about it later? That does seem to be the way things are going now.

When people get worried about the population, what do they do? Well, in Southern California they build more homes and mini-malls for the expected onslaught and wonder if the Colorado River’s water supply will be enough. I gather that’s how the rest of the planet’s authorities think too. In Southern California, it’s the Mexicans who supply the largest in population growth; in New York, it’s the Puerto Ricans. What’s in common? How about their Latin tradition and the stupid Catholic Church, an entity that thinks it’s better to bring hordes of babies into the world and then let them die in agony from starvation and disease rather than eliminate them through a more kindly birth control pill or even abortion.

Does that sound racist? It’s not. It’s common sense. But God forbid anyone should speak the truth! Mexico has exported all of its problems into the United States for many years now, including a non-stop population that the country itself cannot control. Other nations are just as guilty in their own environments.

In the animal kingdom, if the environment cannot support the population, it dies out. In the human kingdom, it’s medicated, educated and told to have a good life and make more children.

Human beings have no more rights than any other species. They only think they do and one day in the not too distant future, that fact will become abundantly clear … when there is no more space, when there is no more water, when our garbage is miles high, when our pollution is so thick no one can breathe, when our industrial waste has so poisoned the earth that nothing more can grow, when we have killed every last species of animal and plant. Of course by then, we will have figured a way to travel the universe and take our sick mentality elsewhere. (original post August, 1999)

Silly Hilly Defends Billy’s Willy

Several years ago we saw Hillary Clinton perched on a sofa with her husband Bill on a night-time news program defending her husband against charges that he was having an affair with girl of the year Gennifer Flowers. And she made it very clear that she wasn’t just a ‘stand by your man’ kind of gal like in that “Tammy Wynette song”. It’s a conspiracy, she said, husband Bill never had an affair and why are all these people lying about him, she asked.

Then came Paula Jones; then came Monica Lewinsky and a few others in between.

Just this past week, Hillary Clinton suddenly sprang forth with the truth in “Talk” magazine, telling everyone she’s known all along about Bill’s affairs and lo and behold they are a result of childhood abuses he suffered and conflicts between his mother and grandmother. Says Hillary: “A psychologist once told me that for a boy, being in the middle of a conflict between two women is the worst possible situation. There is always a desire to please each one.”

Interesting that these traumas only manifest themselves as sexual peccadilloes and nothing more severe to keep him out of high political office. I mean why not wear a house dress and pretend he’s Betty Crocker in his off-time? To his credit, Bill Clinton said he wouldn’t blame his childhood experiences and that he was solely responsible for his actions.

But why did Hillary come forward now with this ridiculous tale of woe? The New York Senate, that’s why. Hillary is seeking political office for herself. And in true political form, she has done one of those amazing turnarounds from falsity to truth or truth to falsity, or anything in between – it doesn’t matter which – that politicians so ably do.

People have been wondering for a long time: ‘Why didn’t she just leave the bum years ago?’ Well, she never would have made it to the Arkansas’ governor’s mansion nor the White House had she done that. Political ambition and greed.

Hillary Clinton is a ‘stand by your man’ kind of gal, after all. Rather than appearing as a sap to Billy’s dilly-dallying, Hillary has tried to paint herself strong: she just won’t leave a man who is ‘sick’. Abused people now have an excuse for their behaviors and what kind of woman would she be perceived as if she left him in the midst of his torments? Not very motherly or wifely.

If you ask me, it’s the ‘Twinkie Defense’ all over again. Too much sugar made him do it; too much baking cookies in the kitchen with those two old biddies all those years ago.

Go away, Hillary, Bill’s a pig. Admit it. And you’re just plain greedy. (original post approx 1999-2000)

California Gov. Kills Anti-Illegal Immigration Prop.

Proposition 187, the ballot issue approved by nearly 60% of California’s population has been successfully annihilated by Governor Gray Davis as of July 27, 1999. The 1994 landmark ballot initiative was designed to deny illegal immigrants from receiving a slew of free social services.

Although Davis opposed the proposition back in ’94, when he became governor this year, he swore that he would respect the will of the people, as was his job to do.

I guess what he didn’t say was that he would only respect the will of the illegal people in the state and that of all the people of Latino origin who tend to flout the law in favor of a free ride for their country men.

Democrats like Davis have been selling out to Latinos for years. More Latinos and more illegals equal more votes because even the illegals manage to vote in our elections. I don’t know who to despise more, the politicians who let it happen or the illegals from making fools of us all.

It went down like this. The ballot measure was approved. Former Gov. Pete Wilson supported it. A moronic Los Angeles judge named Mariana R. Pfaelzer of the U.S. District 9th Circuit appellate court ruled that it was unconstitutional, saying immigration is a federal issue (thus illegal immigration is to be ignored). Gov. Davis then decided he would not appeal the decision back in April and said it should go to mediation even though lawyers everywhere said you can’t mediate such a issue. Then a few days ago, Davis signed a bill that would allow illegal immigrant women to get prenatal care (even though they were already getting it, it was now official thanks to Davis that they could). Davis then signed an agreement with some civil rights groups stating flat out that he would not appeal the decision by Judge Pfaelzer which means the case won’t go to the Supreme Court as was originally thought.

By the way, Davis’ partners is crime are Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante; Los Angeles Assemblyman Gilbert Cedillo and all the so called Mexican-American rights organizations in the state. Funny, when my parents immigrated to this country from Europe after the way, I remember finding a federal government document that belonged to my father that stated categorically “There is no such thing as a hyphenated American”. Interestingly, when we discuss ethnic minorities now, suddenly being hypenated is okay. It’s as if our own government has given up the good fight to force people to hold allegiance to THIS country and no other.

Said Glenn Spencer, president of ‘Voice of Citizens Together’, a San Fernando Valley-based group: “Davis sold his soul for the Hispanic vote and now he’s paying off … if he hadn’t done this they would have lynched him. The governor and the rest of these people are afraid to send this to the Supreme Court.” Maybe if we’re lucky the rest of California’s population really will lynch him …for treason.

Judge Pfaelzer called Proposition 187 “a state scheme to regulate immigration”. Of course it was. The federal government refuses to do anything about hordes of illegals coming here every day. Someone had to try to do something to stop them.

You know when Davis really capitulated? When Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo visited Los Angeles in May and Gray Davis didn’t have the guts to tell him face to face to do something about the problems in Mexico so his people would stay there.

One of the tenets of Prop 187 was that all the illegal immigrant children would be ousted from school and administrators would report them and their undocumented parents to immigration authorities. What some people absolutely refuse to comprehend is that illegal means that these people broke our laws. They have no rights to free services in this country whether it is medical care, schooling, driving licenses, social security, jobs or anything else. The only rights they have is not to be harmed and to be treated with a measure of respect as you would any human being. The only other right they have is to be sent back to wherever it is they came from and have those other countries pay us for our trouble in dealing with their citizens.

When our lawmakers allow others to break our laws and then reward them for it, then our lawmakers ought not to be rewarded with high salaries and other perks. They don’t represent the American people anymore. In the case of California’s lawmakers, they haven’t represented the American people for some time. They are guilty of gross misconduct and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law – but right now, I don’t even know which law that might be since our politicians have gotten so good at turning our laws into jokes.

One last thought. Could it be that our “American” politicians are trying to establish a cheap slave labor force in this country? Allowing a steady stream of illegals and keeping them happy with free benefits means they’ll keep coming and while they’ll here they’ll contribute to the economy at the same time they mow our lawns, plant our crops, be nannies for our kids, laborers in construction and other projects, all for a whopping minimum wage. Politicians love them – they ply them with free benefits at everyone else’s expense then they garner the votes. Of course we’ll never get rid of them. I wonder if the “American” politicians have figured it out yet that in a few years they’ll be out of a job altogether because the illegals will have theirs too. (original post July 27, 1999)
