James Files-Wim Dankbaar: JFK-Assassination Fiction

James Files is an American criminal sitting in prison for the attempted murder of a police officer.  His claim to fame, if you can call it that, is that for many years he has been perpetrating a hoax by insisting he was the sole assassin of President John F. Kennedy.  No one in authority believes him because his story is so full of holes it makes Swiss cheese look solid.

Wim Dankbaar, a JFK conspiracy theorist, from the Netherlands has been pushing a book, a website, a DVD and various interviews and reports on YouTube stating that the imprisoned James Files is the true and only assassin.  Below is just one story excerpt that is posted in its entirety on the website  JamesFilesFraud.com

If you like conspiracies as much as Mr. Dankbaar, perhaps you’d be interested in exploring a bit of the absurdity behind certain statements made by the biggest fraud in history: James Files.  Those who support Files are simply perpetuating his fraud for profit, not for any altruistic purpose or to  serve the annals of history.

STATEMENT 1: Files claims he was involved with the mob as part of “The Chicago Family” (by timelines after September 1960). He indicated the mob was headed by Tony Accardo and that “(Sam) Giancana was an underling to Accardo.”

THE TRUTH:  Tony Accardo turned control of the Chicago mob over to Sam “Mooney” Gianciana in the summer of 1955.

STATEMENT 2: Files claims he served in Laos with the 82nd Airborne conducting training of that countries’ soldiers in “mechanical ambushes.”

THE TRUTH:  Because of the jungle’s “triple tree canopy” airborne operations were futile. Helicopter gun ships were used instead. Additionally, he mispronounces the name given the people of Laos as Latoatians. Something which would give great offense to these proud people.

STATEMENT 3: Files claims he was recruited for CIA operations in April 1961 by David Atlee Phillips.

THE TRUTH:  In 1961 Phillips was Chief of Covert Action in Mexico City and additionally ran the CIA’s “propaganda shop.” He had nothing to do with CIA recruitment.

STATEMENT 4: Files claims responsibility for training some of the Bay of Pigs soldiers at the behest of the CIA and David Atlee Phillips. He describes the training as taking place in the Everglades.

THE TRUTH:  The preparation of invasion forces for the Bay of Pigs took place in Guatemala.

STATEMENT 5: Files indicates training for the Bay of Pigs incursion took place at No Name Key in the Everglades.

THE TRUTH:  No Name Key is located about 25 miles east of Key West and about 50 air miles across Florida Bay from the Everglades. This is a distinction that would surely be known to someone actually involved in those covert operations.

STATEMENT 6: On the morning of November 22, 1963 Files sits at a counter stool in a “pancake house just off the major highway.” He observes a meeting between Jack Ruby and John Roselli during which Ruby passes a “5X9 manila envelope” to Roselli. Later Files discovers the envelope contains “Secret Service identification and a map of the motorcade route.” Roselli quips “They only made one change.” Files reveals the alteration was the “little zig zag onto Elm they never should have made.”

THE TRUTH:  Stories of last minute changes in the motorcade route are pure fabrications. The actual route was approved on Monday, November 18, 1963 and published in both The Dallas Morning News and Dallas Times Herald on November 19, 1963 three full days before the alleged meeting between Ruby and Roselli.

STATEMENT 7: Files claims the week before Kennedy was killed, that he spent 20-30 minutes calibrating guns with scopes.

THE TRUTH:  And it takes longer that 20-30 minutes to calibrate just one gun, if you do it properly. Or maybe Files was in a hurry to see a movie.

STATEMENT 8: And Files also claims that just before shooting Kennedy he took off the scope so he could use it to look around at the people in the area. Then put the scope back on the gun to fire the fatal shot that killed Kennedy.

THE TRUTH:  Dankbaar and Files love to tell anyone who will listen, that James Files is a military/mob weapons expert and assassin. But even a gun novice knows that after calibrating a gun with a scope you do not take the scope off the weapon before a hunt, shooting competition or shooting the President of the United States, to “look around”.

STATEMENT 9: Files claims in the Dankbaar video, that he was given 6 rounds of .222 ammo, with mercury filled bullets. He fired only one that hit Kennedy and left the scene with the other 5 rounds.

THE TRUTH:  The question would be… what ammo did Mr. Files “the weapon expert” use to test fire the gun he was going to use to shoot Kennedy? So, Mr. files the “assassin” calibrates his gun and scope with ammo he won’t be using for his final target.  And by the way, the .222 cal. bullet is very small. I would love to see someone drill a hole big enough to pour mercury into the cavity and leave enough room to seal the hole with something like wax or lead. Plus, any bullet is designed by the manufacturer to follow the straightest path possible. So here is a bullet drill out so now the missing lead is replaced with mercury and wax or lead. How accurate do you think this bullet would be at a moving target???

STATEMENT 10: Files claimed he hit Kennedy by firing one shot into Kennedy’s left (that’s correct left) temple.

THE TRUTH:  The alleged “grassy Knoll” shot struck Kennedy in the right side of the head. Files claimed he fired a .222 bullet from his pistol – a Remington XP-100. Experts who own this pistol claim it’s not a good weapon in this situation. “It kicks like a mule and sounds like a cannon.” Ballistics tests, as well as, ear witnesses would certainly be able to identify the distinctive sound.
