Health Care Reform Bill Sucks

The bill passed by congress is fairly useless.  There is really only one kind of health care reform that should have been passed and that is UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE!   We need to put the concepts of “health” and “care” back into the equation.  Right now all we got is very minor insurance company reform.

1.  Insurance companies are only in it for profit.  They just want you to pay into the system and then deny you coverage when you actually try to use your insurance.

2.  No current system actually respects or rewards staying healthy.  If they did, then you’d be able to deduct vitamins and supplements as the cost of staying healthy from your taxes or insurance companies would pay for these items.

3.  Control the population and you will control costs.

4.  Illegal immigrants should be treated as necessary but a bill for the cost of the service should be sent to the originating country.  Ideally, anyone in the country illegally should be instantly deported and cared for in their homeland.  The United States should not have to pay for the entire world and anyone who does not see that is deeply delusional.

5.  Our government needs to step up to the plate, so to speak, and stop rewarding companies that make garbage food products with tax breaks and contracts.  If we can have mega companies making trash then we can have these same companies producing quality and truly organic foods for the masses.

6.  Individuals need to wake up and start making healthier choices.  They would be helped in this regard if the big food companies didn’t think it was okay to feed us low-nutrient, high-fat, high-sugar, pesticide/hormone/antibiotic-laden CRAP.

7.  The government is downright ignorant when it comes to pasteurization of dairy products.  RAW MILK is very safe and highly nutritious and boosts immunity.  RAW nuts should be allowed to be just that — RAW, not pasteurized which destroys nutrients.  Our government is a knee-jerk organization without any common sense whatsoever.  Any well educated complementary/alternative medicine practitioner knows the truth about these quality foods.

Health Care Reform Merry-Go-Round

Could the health care reform debate in D.C. get anymore convoluted, downright stupid and frankly, obscene than it already is?  We doubt it.

President Obama has acknowledged the truth about how Congress and federal employees have the absolute best health care benefits and options in the country.  And, he says, it would be nice if all the citizens had the same.

WHO does he think is paying for all those great benefits that he, Congress and other federal employees get?  WE DO — the public, through our tax dollars!

So the question must be asked WHY then doesn’t EVERYONE get the same great benefits and options?

Our government is composed of greedy pig lawmakers who make laws favorable to themselves and screw over everyone else.   Obama has so much admitted this.  Yet not one single news report has pointed this out which leads us to believe that the entire news world is so entwined with the minutia of this pathetic debate that they cannot for the life of them see the “forest for the trees”.

The obvious and simple answer, of course (at least to some), is that our government simply can’t afford to pay for everyone. Then we say equality to ALL.  Congress and federal employees should get the same obscenely high cost crap that the majority of Americans are forced to accept AND a large percentage of them should get NO insurance in keeping with what a huge number of people must contend with.

U.S. Government: All Bull, No Balls

It is with great relief that we reach the first day of the new year with our minds and hearts intact, at least to some extent.  2009 was a shit of a year thanks to the banks, wall street, the big pharmaceutical and medical insurance companies and giant agricultural-businesses like Monsanto.

We foolishly believed that with Obama in the White House, the U.S. government would magically grow some balls to protect the lower and middle classes against the barons of industry who rule the world.  Not so.  Obama got in and caved in, instantly, and with the same zeal as those who came before him.  Congress didn’t help.  It never does.

Monsanto goons control our food supply and are willing to destroy the environment, people’s health and the livelihoods of small farmers everywhere, all for the sake of huge profits and their comfy lifestyles as they shove thousands of pesticides and genetically modified foods our way.

Health care reform was a joke.  Medical insurers and pharmaceutical giants won out over common sense and humanity.  The US deliberately pays the highest prices for drugs, most of which are unnecessary, don’t work or worse, kill.  Why?  Obviously to reward the pharmaceutical companies for getting many of our officials elected AND because the industry spends the most amount of money to bribe our officials into making obscene legislation in their favor.  Same with Monsanto.  With former Monsanto executives now heading up government offices and making all the decisions without oversight, what hope do we have?

And finally we must bow to the banks and Wall Street for tossing everyone they could get their hands on out into the streets and out of their homes via mortgage meltdown/evictions, a problem THEY created, causing more homelessness than we’ve seen since “the Great Depression”.  Our legislators do love using that depression phrase.  It makes it seem as if they weren’t in control of anything and that it’s merely been a huge vortex of strange events that bombarded us throughout the year.   Give those scum another huge bonus.   Earning millions of dollars a year apparently is still not enough!  But will the government initiate oversight of this industry?  Nah!  Besides, it’s too late.

Which leads us to credit card interest rates and the rush by the banks to screw everyone over again before the measly rules Washington did enact take effect in February and August 2010.  One credit card, Premier Bank, was offering a card worth $250 of credit.  You had to pay upfront fees of $256 to acquire it and pay 79.9% interest.    Can you say USURY?  For those not familiar with the term, it means the illegal action or practice of lending money at unreasonably high rates of interest.  Many other credit card companies increased their rates to 30% and Obama said boo-hoo.  Then all the legislators wrung their hands in dismay and said “what shall we do?” and then proceeded to do nothing.  The new rules soon to take effect are so watered down and convoluted they’re absolutely worth nothing.  And the banks win again!

And to the automakers who stood hat in hand begging for money, we say bah, humbug, you assholes should have been paying attention to the environment instead of continuing to build your crappy cars.

Will we thrive in 2010?  Will we even survive?  How many more people will be living under freeways or in tent cities while the rich have money to burn?

Healthcare and Washington DC, The Land of Fantasy and B.S.

I’m convinced I’m an alien, dropped on planet earth from some far off land, many years ago.  If not that, then perhaps I am from the future, and I’ve come through a worm hole, purpose unknown.  I can think of no other explanation – oh, there is one – that I’m a lot more intelligent than the so-called “intelligent life” that thrive in our nation’s capital, specifically our legislators.

As I’ve listened to the health care reform debate drone on over the past number of months, I realized without a shadow of a doubt that there is no hope for the masses.  Our politicians live in a fantasy land; they may easily have slipped down the rabbit hole along with Alice.  And they’re never coming back up.

If they’re not as stupid as they pretend to be, then it must just be a matter of greed and complacency.  They obviously know nothing about how many people live, never having walked in their shoes.  I’m not talking about the upper middle class or people lucky enough have to have flexible positive flow incomes.  I’m talking about those who are unemployed or self-employed or retired who have extremely limited and static funds.  There is NOTHING left over for anything.

So, how can any legislator think that a person living on such a fixed income is going to magically be able to afford health insurance at any price?  Where is the money going to come from?  They still expect people to pay for what they’re calling a public option health insurance. These D.C. morons just don’t seem to understand this very simple basic principle.  They keep yacking on about public option or private insurance from employers or personal insurance that someone with money can afford to buy.

Advice to politicians:  Stop the yacking, pull your heads out of your asses, climb out of the rabbit hole and get real.  Once and for all do the right thing.

Monsanto Goon and the US Food Supply: Update

The following is an update report from Organic Consumer Association about how Agribusiness giant MONSANTO taints the American food supply by infiltrating our government.

President Obama has again broken his campaign promise to keep corporate lobbyists out of his administration by appointing yet another Monsanto cheerleader and pesticide lobbyist to a prominent position.

President Obama has named Islam Siddiqui to represent U.S. agricultural trade interests. Siddiqui is the current Vice-President for Science and Regulatory Affairs with CropLife America, a pesticide and biotechnology trade group known for aggressively pushing the agenda of agribusinesses, including Monsanto, Syngenta, Cargill and Dow. During Siddiqui’s term alone, CropLife has been a driving force undermining U.S. compliance with international agreements ranging from the Montreal Protocol on ozone-depleting chemicals to the Stockholm Convention, an effort to regulate the use of toxins, including DDT, PCBs and dioxins. Siddiqui’s group also publicly criticized and ridiculed Michele Obama for planting a pesticide-free organic garden at the White House.

Siddiqui first caught the Organic Consumers Association’s attention during the Clinton administration when he worked at USDA on the implementation of national organic standards. He was vocal in calling for nuclear irradiation, sewage sludge, and GMOs to be allowed in organic production. After a long campaign led by the OCA and our allies, Siddiqui and the USDA backed down.

Why would President Obama betray his ideals and organic consumers? Could the fact that Siddiqui and much of the entire chemical-biotech lobby gave Obama major campaign contributions during the 2008 campaign have anything to do with it?

Siddqui’s appointment was due for a confirmation vote in the Finance Committee on November 20. The hearing was postponed and has not yet been rescheduled. Could OCA, the 80 groups in opposition, and the 77,000 people who have signed the Stop Siddiqui petition have anything to do with it?  LEARN MORE-TAKE ACTION at ORGANIC CONSUMERS.ORG

Healthcare Reform Scam

On June 15th, 2009, President Obama addressed the American Medical Association to garner their support for his health care reform agenda. At one point he was actually booed by this organization that allegedly embraces the Hippocratic Oath (‘first, do no harm’). This is the same organization that bows to the pharmaceutical industry and that tells our nation’s doctors (many of whom are too lazy to research new protocols, anyway) that they absolutely may not reveal alternative medical approaches to healing illnesses and disease.

The AMA was devised as a means to protect the interests of doctors not patients. We already know that the Food and Drug Administration really exists to protect business interests. It too bows to the pharmaceutical industry. Just recently I learned that the FDA plans to ban the natural vitamin B6 nutrient pyridoxamine (which by the way, is found in many foods) not because it’s unsafe, but because a major pharmaceutical company wants to patent it, thereby making it only available as a prescription drug! The FDA has definitively placed the interests of big business over the ability of Americans to purchase a safe and natural supplement.

High on Obama’s list of ways to achieve reform was preventive care. IS HE KIDDING?

The AMA won’t let its members give important nutrition-based, anti-aging or complementary care information to patients. The American Dental Association still forces its members to hide the dangers of mercury and push poisonous fluoride into people’s mouths and down their throats. The FDA is a shill for the pharmaceutical industry and big business in general.

All you have to do is look around at all the non-organic, chemical and pesticide-ridden crap that the FDA says is okay to sell to the public (from the food that’s sold to the cleaners we tend to use to the cosmetics and personal care items we might wear and use) .

The Environmental Protection Agency allows businesses to poison and otherwise harm people, animals and the environment on a daily basis.

You want PREVENTIVE CARE, Mr. President? I suggest that America starts doing business differently and embraces a healthful lifestyle on all fronts. Ban the FDA and all the other pseudo-protective agencies that government has coughed up. We’d do better without them.

Drinking Water Scam

I happen to believe in and follow the advice of many holistic medical practitioners. But the one bit of advice that really irks me is the declaration that I must drink 10-12 or more glasses of water a day. It used to be 8.

The reasoning behind this, they say, is for me to stay hydrated and to be able to flush toxins from my body.

First of all, unless a person drinks absolutely nothing or maybe doesn’t drink enough of any liquid, it’s unlikely they’ll become dehydrated. Coffee, tea and even sodas are all made with water.

As for flushing toxins from our bodies, that’s a farce. Not only is any kind of water available to the public tainted by pesticides, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, bacteria, viruses, parasites and naturally occurring harmful substances like arsenic, but most filters don’t even eliminate all of these things. This is a case of garbage in, without the “garbage out” part.

And even if a person religiously followed their advice and drank all that water and filtered it properly, you can be assured that when it came time to test them for toxins, their bodies would be rampant with every kind of shit man has created.

Drinking lots of water really doesn’t make the shit come out.  It just makes you pee a lot. Coffee, tea and soda will do that too. For the record, I don’t drink soda. That crap will kill you for other reasons.

A Message to G-20 Summit

Here are a few points to consider when it comes to solving the global financial crisis now.

1. Restructure Wall Street: no more speculation; no more bonuses. These people get a salary for what they do. Cap salaries.

2. Corporate Greed Factor: cap executive pay and eliminate bonuses. Executives are paid many times over the highest paid worker. They do not need bonuses rewarding them for doing what they should already be doing for what they are paid. And they certainly don’t need to be paid a bonus for taking a company in the wrong direction.

3. Profit Sharing: workers should have a stake in their companies. Committed employees should share in the profits by receiving stock shares. When people feel they are being treated fairly, productivity will increase.

4. Eliminate Lobbyists: our government officials have been beholden to special interest groups for too long to the extent that these groups are the ones actually in control. Cease and desist.

5. Congressional Pay & Perks: what do they do that they deserve to be paid triple or more the average American worker? Often, nothing. And if they are paid that much, why should do they get all those perks (freebies, like free haircuts, cars, etc.)? Your average American worker has to use his own car to get to work and pay for his own haircut, so should they.

6. Population & Environment Control: it is irresponsible to allow the human population to explode and use up all of our natural resources just as it is irresponsible for humans to destroy the environment and cause the extinction of other animal species. Ban toxic chemicals and pesticides. Grow only organic foods. Instigate active family planning programs, education and birth control measures. Adopting these measures will go a long way toward making us a healthier, wealthier nation which in the end will reduce costs related to education, health care, environmental cleanup and much more.

Fear & Loathing

I’m angry. I’m angry that I’m angry. I loathe the fact that I am angry about being angry. It’s my right to be angry, however, so I vow not to loathe my anger.

I am fearful. I am fearful about my fear. It grows daily with each new news report about how I should be afraid of losing my job, losing my house, starving to death, losing my ability to care for my animals, getting older and not having health insurance. I am fearful about our environment and the loss of many species with the latest threat to the polar bears. I loathe the fact that I am so fearful about things that are beyond my control.

I wish I could be more Zen-like. Accept that which I cannot change. However, if I just accept things, even though I cannot change these things, don’t I just become complicit in the whole horrible process? That’s how I used to think many years ago which brought me nothing but ill health due to excessive stress. I worried about everything.

Now I just stress about almost everything then do mental exercises to alleviate my stress until the next stressful thing arrives. When the mental exercises don’t help, I pound my head against the wall to knock myself into unconsciousness. That helps until I wake up and remember what caused the stress that motivated me to knock myself unconscious.

I’ve tried seeing a psychiatrist until I realized that those people are as screwed up as everyone else and don’t know how to fix anything. They do know how to write out a prescription for anti-depressants, though. I won’t take them. You shouldn’t take them either. They don’t make the problems go away. Of course if you don’t have health insurance you can’t afford to buy them anyway. And, you’ll still lose your house or job or starve to death. Doesn’t that make you angry?

You know what helps? Spitting. If you get angry enough you should just spit. You can hear it and you can see it which means you can truly appreciate the awesome value of it. Spit at the wall; spit at the floor; spit at your local politician. It beats throwing expensive shoes. And when the spit dries on your wall or floor, feel free to color it with crayons to brighten up your world.

If the spit dries on your local politician, revel in the fact that he/she will now have to take their garment to the dry cleaners or else worry about whether or not they contracted some horrible disease from your ugly spit. They will become fearful and they will loathe you for your disgusting habit. What they sow, so shall they reap. That should make you happy.

U.S. Banking: Time to Send a Message

The big banks have gotten a super big bailout from the U.S. government. This comes after they screwed over the public royally by doubling and even tripling credit card interest rates and ridiculous fees, decreasing or eliminating credit. After you sign on to their original terms, they arbitrarily change them and the bank you began with is no longer the bank holding your card. Does any of this seem fair? Does anyone have oversight over these practices? The government does have something called the Fair Credit Reporting Act but let’s face it – the government is in control of absolutely nothing when it comes to the banking industry.

Time to send a message. Since the public is funding these businesses through the big bailout, I think it should now be US calling the shots. A lot of people are having financial problems and many will default on their credit card payments. It’s going to show up on your credit report no matter how much you try to reason with the banks. I would suggest that people stop paying off their debts and when the debt collectors start calling you tell them to take out your payments from the bailout money they received from YOUR tax dollars — remember, the money you paid when you actually had a job. Then, you can tell them that if they still need more money, they should get it back from the overpaid CFO/CEO fuckers who created this mess in the first place.

I’ve been seeing those Walmart commercials about buying a prepaid Visa card. It seems a good way to go as a backup to carrying cash. Obviously once you tell the banking industry to go fuck themselves you’ll never get credit again, at least not for about 7-10 years, but the way things are going in general, you wouldn’t get it anyway. Are there going to be any jobs left in the United States? The word “depression” is now on everyone’s lips. Scary stuff, indeed.
